Bleeding Motorcyclist, 31, Aided By Good Samaritans, Officer After Edgewater Crash (Update)

Good Samaritans and a police officer jumped into action to help a 31-year-old motorcyclist involved in a crash last week in Edgewater, police said.

The motorcyclist was heading north on River Road when he lost control of his 2007 Harley Davidson, sliding into a southbound vehicle waiting to turn into 1111 River Road around 4:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, Edgewater Police Detective Lt. Tim Farrell said.

The motorcyclist was reported to have a severe leg injury with blood loss.

Good Samaritans had already applied a makeshift tourniquet before Officer Gillian Cabrera arrived and applied a tourniquet, Farrell said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
